Who doesn’t like a contest?
What about a contest where there’ll be 3 winners?
What?
Until 11:59 pm EST, Friday, December 31, 2021 we are having a contest where you can submit a photo on the topic of machinery installation. This could include yourself or your colleague working on the machine or the machine itself! For example, what’s the largest machine you had to install? The smallest? What issues did you have during the install? What do the bolts looks like when you re and re? Was the piping connected under stress? Did the coupling not fit? Did you have to sweat it on? Did you have to measure the base for flatness before the machines were bolted down? Did you check for softfoot? Was there bearing play? Did you use a comealong on a pipe? Be honest! What’s the best shaft alignment tool that you’ve used? Was there one that was best for a specific job? Let us know with an image! Did you check the belt drive for vertical angular misalignment with a string? a straightedge? or a laser? Anything on belt drives, worn sheaves or damaged belts. A pipe hanger installed correctly or incorrectly, a damaged coupling or one that has runout, a foot mount that has to many shims or is loose. Bent Jacking bolts? We want to see it!
Why?
We teach Millwrights how to install machines – motors, pumps, compressors, gearboxes etc. and a picture is a visual aid that helps tell the tale. A worn/damaged bearing asks the question – why we replace so many? Make it fun show us the good and the bad. We are also always looking for interesting photos to share and post about on social media, write about on our blog or discuss as case studies in our training. With COVID this past 1-2 years its been difficult to get out in the field and take our own.
We want to see the best machinery installation photos out in the Canadian industry right now. Include your company name and we will promote you! Good quality photos are always best but we know what conditions are like so do your best. Photos will be judged on the most interesting photos, “never seen before” photos, “never do this” photos, “awesome plants to work in” photos, incredible pieces of machinery photos, etc. Don’t hold back! The more interesting, beautiful, troublesome (or damaged) the application or machine/plant, the better!
